On the afternoon of June 25, 2023, the fourth Academic Salon for Ph.D. Students in Theoretical Economics in 2023 (64th in history) was staged by the China Center for Special Economic Zone Research (CCSEZR), Shenzhen University (SZU) at conference room 1500 of the Huiwen Building. The keynote speaker of the salon was Associate Professor Jiang Liangliang of Hong Kong Polytechnic University.
Associate Professor Jiang, Doctor in Economics of University of Florida in America, focuses on research fields including banking and financial institutions, corporate finance, accounting and auditing in corporate governance, and economics of regulation and corruption, with multiple papers published in journals including
Review of Financial Studies,
Journal of Accounting Research and
Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis. Her views have been presented at major finance conferences such as the annual meeting of the American Finance Association (AFA), Western Finance Association (WFA), and European Finance Association (EFA).
The lecture was concentrated on “Shared Analyst Coverage and Intra-portfolio Information Spillover Evidence from Management Earnings Forecasts”. The lecture was presided over by CCSEZR Prof. Li Fan and attended by some teachers and graduate students from CCSEZR.
At the beginning of the lecture, Prof. Li Fan briefly introduced the areas of interests and achievements of Mrs. Jiang. Mrs. Jiang extended her congratulations to our university on its 40th founding anniversary and expressed her gratitude to Prof. Li Fan for her invitation and hosting. Mrs. Jiang delivered this lecture, which was divided into four parts, based on the actual situation of portfolio information spillover and her research outcomes in recent years. Mrs. Jiang started the first part by introducing data sources, presenting the current research method and its deficiencies. In the second part, Mrs. Jiang focused on research approach, model, and estimation for this method. In the third part, she introduced the theoretical character and in the fourth part, demonstrated the application of this method for us and offered an in-depth interpretation of the analog study results. At last, Mrs. Jiang had a heated discussion with Prof. Li Fan and teachers and students and replied to their questions for them to better understand her research results.
This cutting-edge academic lecture of significant theoretical value was attended with full enthusiasm and activeness, serving as a platform for CCSEZR teachers and students to expand their academic horizons and gain advanced academic knowledge.
