CCSEZR is a key and the only research institute of humanities and social sciences approved by the MOE of China in 2001 with a focus on the study of Special Economic Zones (SEZs), and is China’s only academic think-tank that places the study of SEZ issues at its core. The Belt and Road Research Institute (Shenzhen) for International Cooperation and Development (BRRI) is a novel private think tank with independent legal person co-founded by Wu Xiaolan Charity Foundation and the China Center for Special Economic Zone Research (CCSEZR) of Shenzhen University, a key research institute of humanities and social sciences under the Ministry of Education of China. BRRI adopts a council institution system, with an Academic Committee and an Advisory Committee. By sharing successful experiences of 'China's Path Going Global' and Special Economic Zones, BRRI committed to taking direct responsibility to provide support for the Belt and Road Initiative on the ground.
During the discussion, the two sides carried out profound exchanges on regional economic cooperation and cultural communications, jointly explored the key issues and new development opportunities in the construction of the "Belt and Road", and offered advice on the high-quality development of the Kashi region.
"From the perspectives of the history, culture, economy, institution, law, religious beliefs and international relations of the countries along the Belt and Road, BRRI has dedicated to building a novel private think tank with independent viewpoints, international outlook, open academics, inclusive ideas and respectful cultures to serve the country." Tao Yitao suggested that the BRRI will uphold the principle of "a win-win co-operation where everyone has a stake in decision-making and a share of the benefit". Relying on colleges and universities, with enterprises and markets as a carrier, civil businesses between universities, think tanks, enterprises and otherwise are the main channels to explore a new type of institutional mechanism for international cooperation in Kashi.
Attended the discussion were Prof. Gao Xingming, Deputy Directors of BRRI, Prof. Li Li, Deputy Directors of BRRI, and persons in charge of the Headquarters.
